the "Word" according to Nancy Pelosi

WOW - this was really hard to listen to.  Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi was commenting on a question about what was her favorite word.  She said, her favorite word, was "the Word".  "The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us", she said.  He favorite word is "the Word", this is coming from a woman who said that she must pursue public policies "in keeping with the values" of Jesus Christ.  WHAT?

Pelosi, who is a Catholic strongly favors legalized abortion and voted against the ban on partial-birth abortion that was enacted into law in 2003.  Now according to my devoted Catholic friends, just because someone says they are a Catholic doesn't make them a Catholic.  They (Catholics) have to hold to the teachings of the Catholic Church, Vatican II and follow the Pope's direction.  Again, according to my devoted Catholic friends, to be pro-abortion is not in accordance with the policies of the Catholic church.

This clip is from the Speaker speaking at a May 6 Catholic Community Conference on Capitol Hill, Nancy said:

“They ask me all the time, ‘What is your favorite this? What is your favorite that? What is your favorite that?’ And one time, ‘What is your favorite word?’ And I said, ‘My favorite word? That is really easy. My favorite word is the Word, is the Word. And that is everything. It says it all for us. And you know the biblical reference, you know the Gospel reference of the Word.”
“And that Word," Pelosi said, "is, we have to give voice to what that means in terms of public policy that would be in keeping with the values of the Word. The Word. Isn’t it a beautiful word when you think of it? It just covers everything. The Word."
“Fill it in with anything you want. But, of course, we know it means: ‘The Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.’ And that’s the great mystery of our faith. He will come again. He will come again. So, we have to make sure we’re prepared to answer in this life, or otherwise, as to how we have measured up.”
She is quoting from John 1:14 which says, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

What does Speaker Pelosi think about Psalm 127:3: "truly children are a GIFT from the LORD; the fruit of the womb is a reward"?   Or what about the scriptures about the killing of the innocent like Exodus 20:13, Deuteronomy 5:17, Matthew 19:18 and finally the unrepentant murderers and idolaters and everyone who loves and deals in falsehood (untruth, error, deception, cheating) are addressed in Revelation 22:15 where they cannot enter the Gate and are kept outside with the dogs.

It would be good for Speaker Pelosi to review another section of scripture that teaches us about our "walk" and our "talk" lining up.  In Matthew 7:12-27 Jesus is speaking and says,
12 "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
13 "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
15 "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles?
17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'
23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'
24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
26 "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
See, just because we SAY something doesn't mean much.  It is about what we DO.  To a Jewish child growing up, words and actions were considered one.  In fact, your words really were not considered true until you backed it up with an action.  We are not saved by what we DO (our works).  We are saved by  what Jesus did, but we need to ACT on that and CONFESS (an action) and live according to that grace that He provided.

Even in the Middle East today where Muslim and Jews are the majority in the region, if a person confesses to be a Christian not much is said about it.  It becomes a point of contention when that "Christian" DOES something about it.  That person is not "cut-off" from their families by just saying they are a Christian.  It is when they (the new convert) enter into the waters of baptism (an action) that they are cut off from their families and faith.  There is EVIDENCE to indite them!  Words and actions walk hand-in-hand and when Speaker Pelosi says she is a Catholic (which the church doctrine states that Abortion is against their faith) and then votes (an action) on various legislation's that provide for abortion, she is talking out of both sides of her mouth.

Let's always go to the Word (that word that Nancy so loves) and see what it says in Matthew 13:19-23
19 "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.
20 "The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
21 yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.
22 "And the one on whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
23 "And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears FRUIT and brings forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, and some thirty."
Jesus is again speaking here and stating that He is looking at FRUIT (actions).  He wants us to bear MUCH fruit.  In verse 22 He states that some will "hear" the Word and the DECEITFULNESS of wealth will choke the Word and it (the Word) will become unfruitful.  Hmmm - that says a WHOLE lot!  The Word can get choked out of our lives by deceitfulness.

When we have leaders, one of the highest in our land, standing up and quoting scripture but voting (her actions) for such evil, I could not be silent.  She closes her speech with, "He will come again. He will come again. So, we have to make sure we’re prepared to answer in this life, or otherwise, as to how we have measured up.”  As a Catholic, if she is attending Mass, she quotes part of this closing quote she stated every time the doors are open in the Catholic Nicene Creed, "
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation, he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.

Jesus stated in John 10:27-29 who His followers are.
Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these testify of Me. But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep HEAR My voice, and I know them, and they FOLLOW Me."

See, if we BELIEVE, we DO.  It's just that simple.  You know who is of HIM by their FRUIT!
